Our weekend started on Friday...one of my best friends, Annie, married that man of her dreams, Sean, at what was the most fabulous, beautiful and totally-crazy-fun wedding, ever. It was hosted at Saddlerock Ranch...the most gorgeous setting...amongst the vineyards in Malibu; so completely romantic and stunningly picturesque. Nestled in the mountains with green rolling hills surrounding us and the sun shining down...it reminded us of our honeymoon in France & Italy. Just perfect. The hilltop ceremony was followed by a cocktail hour (or two!) set on the grass below, and then an uber-delicious family-style dinner amongst long perfectly-decorated picnic-style tables...and then the real partying began! We danced the night away to a live 80s cover-band (flown in from SF - Annie's one non-negotiable must for her big day!) and, as always, Matt surprised (and charmed) the guests when he broke out into his totally awesome 80s dance moves! He rocks!
The perfect night was followed by a super yummy, but a bit sleepy, brunch the following day at the Malibu Countrymart with a few close friends (who were also a big part of our wedding a year ago, so it was fun to start our anniversary with them!). A little shopping and then off to Venice where we enjoyed afternoon nibbles and drinks at Gjelina (our favorite restaurant in Venice)...then Primativo for a sip of champagne...and lastly off to the incredibly romantic and special anniversary dinner at Capo in Santa Monica, where I enjoyed the best pasta I've ever had under dim candlelight and with a fireplace roaring, setting the perfect ambiance.
Us at Primativo for a pre-dinner drink...
It was a completely perfect and totally wonderful anniversary weekend. We celebrated with some of our closest friends and also enjoyed time, just the two of us. What was really funny though...although you can't tell in the photo above, we wore matching outfits for last night's dinner; unintentionally (of course)...but because we had packed separately and were coming straight from the wedding festivities in Malibu, neither of us had options to change (we literally got ready for dinner in my car!) and were both in navy blue, head to toe. I guess it's true that, at some point, you just start wearing matching outfits?!!
One year of being married; 10 years together. Totally, madly, deeply, fully, completely in love. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world.
xoxo
