Perhaps it's because of my new part-time stay-at-home gig that I've grown more fond of Oprah than ever, but I have really developed a strong admiration for her & the way she lives her life. She came from nothing - abuse, neglect, poverty - and has triumphed to become a 2 billion dollar empire, inspiring millions to "be their best self" in her continued quest for knowledge and deep appreciation for all that she has and is. I know it sounds totally cheesy, but if you've caught any of her recent episodes, you would know what I mean.
During her final farewell show, she shared her life's lessons with her loyal audience, and I felt incredibly inspired & moved. I wrote the lessons down, and thought I'd share...perhaps you will enjoy, as I did. Read each one; it's worth it.
You know better, you do better.
Are you exactly where you are supposed to be? If not, find it.
We all are called – everybody has a calling – your real job in life is to figure out what it is and get about the business of doing it.
Your calling lights you up and it lets you know that you are exactly where you are supposed to be, and doing exactly what you are supposed to be doing.
Live from the heart of yourself – you have to know what sparks the life in you, so you in your own way can illuminate the world.
Each one of you has your own platform – it’s wherever you are with your own reach – however small or however large that reach is. That is your platform and is where your power lies. (in reference to doing good in your life & your community)
Everyday you are showing people exactly who you are – you are letting your life speak for you. When you do that, you will receive in direct proportion to how you give.
You can help someone, you can give, you can heal, you can listen – everybody has a calling. Not everybody gets paid for it, but everyone is called.
Carry whatever you are supposed to be doing; carry that forward, and don’t waste anymore time. Start embracing the life that is calling you, and use your life to serve the world. (one of my favorites)
Nobody but you is responsible for your life.
You are responsible for the energy that you create for yourself, and for the energy that you bring to others.
You are responsible for your life – don’t wait for somebody else to fix you, to save you or to complete you. When you get that, you get free.
There is a common thread that runs through all of our pain & suffering – it’s our feeling of unworthiness. Know you are worthy of happiness.
We often block our own blessings because we don’t feel worthy enough. You, alone, are enough.
Everyone wants validation. Do you see me? Do you hear me? Does what I say mean anything to you? – understanding that principal allows you to be open minded and live with an open heart.
The voice is always there – hear it. Wait and listen for the guidance that is greater than my meager mind. Your life is always speaking to you.
What are the whispers in your life – and will you hear it? Your life is speaking to you; what is it saying?
Connect, embrace, liberate, love…just one person…and then spread it to two.
Make someone feel like they matter. Validate them.
There are no coincidences; only devine order.
Gratitude is the greatest treasure.
